Manufacture to drawing or sample

EST supplies expansion joints and flexible sleeves made from coated technical fabrics, with or without a thermal barrier.

Constructions are specified according to:

  • temperature;
  • positive or negative pressure;
  • the medium;
  • humidity;
  • vibration;
  • movements;
  • number of cycles;
  • the external environment;
  • installation constraints.

Coated fabrics

Materials commonly considered include:

  • silicone-coated glass fibre;
  • silicone-coated Kevlar/aramid;
  • PTFE-coated glass fibre;
  • EPDM-coated glass fibre;
  • Viton®/Nomex;
  • nitrile-coated nylon;
  • other constructions to suit the requirement.

Thermal barriers

Depending on the gas-stream temperature, one or more insulation layers can be incorporated:

  • glass fibre;
  • aluminised glass fibre;
  • graphite-coated glass fibre;
  • metal-reinforced high-temperature fibres;
  • ceramic fibre;
  • treated silica;
  • silica felts.

Bolsters and flow liners

A bolster / insulation pad can protect the sealing layer from direct gas-stream temperature.

A metal flow liner can also be incorporated in certain configurations to protect the expansion joint from the gas stream, abrasion or temperature.

Profiles

Configurations include:

  • flat profile;
  • U-shaped profile;
  • other shapes to suit the movements and installation.
