A range for every cylinder function

European Sealing Technology supplies the principal seal families required to seal and guide a cylinder:

Rod seals

Rod seals provide a dynamic seal between the rod and cylinder head. Their design depends on pressure, speed, surface finish and fluid.

Piston seals

Piston seals separate the cylinder chambers and must retain pressure while limiting friction.

U-cup seals

Elastomer or polyurethane profiles commonly used as rod or piston seals, depending on their orientation and design.

Wipers

Wipers restrict the ingress of dust, water and other contaminants as the rod retracts into the cylinder.

Guide rings

Guide rings carry lateral loads and prevent metal-to-metal contact between cylinder components.

Back-up rings

Used in particular with O-Rings, back-up rings limit seal extrusion into clearances as pressure increases.

PTFE composite seals

Profiles combining a PTFE sealing element with an elastomer energiser to reduce friction and withstand demanding conditions.

V-packing

Stacked sealing-ring sets used in many heavy-duty applications. Large V-packing sets, including FKM/Viton® grades subject to available references, can be supplied.

Seals can be supplied individually or assembled into equipment-specific kits containing V-packing, wipers, guides, rod seals, piston seals and back-up rings as required.
